‘Charm City Kings’ tells the story of three teenagers that are fascinated with the adults riding dirtbikes and motorcycles.
The three teens are Mouse (Jahi Di’Allo Winston), Sweartagawd (Kezii Curtis), and Lamont (Donielle T. Hansley Jr.).
How they view the fun environment in their eyes from the outside, is what leads the three into a bad path in the inside. Mouse is the central character in this film as he struggles in between making a hard decision about what is best for him. That is, his passion for dogs and becoming a veterinarian, or follow the life of a bike rider.
Mouse also has guidance and wisdom from his mother Terri (Teyonah Parris), Detective Rivers (Will Catlett), and Blax (Meek Mill). All three want to see him take the right path.
Charm City King’s message is you cannot take life for granted. The decisions you make are crucial to yourself and those surrounding you. Director Angel Manuel Soto wanted that to be showcased from the very start. I got the chance to speak with Angel Manuel Soto to talk about the film’s direction and the decision to shoot this in Baltimore. I also spoken with Jahi Di’Allo Winston about Charm City Kings and working with Hip-Hop artist Meek Mill.
It is also Meek Mill’s first major role in a film and Jahi Di’Allo praised his work on the film and stated that people will be very impressed by what he did in the film!
Charm City Kings premieres on HBO Max on October 8th, 2020.
