Exclusive: Interview with ‘I’m A Virgo’ Cast

The newest dark comedy features a star-studded cast from creative genius filmmaker Boots Riley.

I’m A Virgo is a coming-of-age joyride about a 13-foot-tall young black man, named Cootie in Oakland, California. Growing up hidden away, for his protection, he spent most of his time enjoying comic books and TV shows. He then eventually escapes experiencing the “real world”, finding love, forming friendships, and learning about the realities of being on the “outside”.

Played by Jharrel Jerome (Cootie), he describes the role as “very real and very visceral”. As a whole, the cast all agreed that working with Boots was an amazing experience, and was an all-around fun environment. “We had so much fun shooting in the city, it was almost as if we weren’t shooting a show”, says Brett Gray (Felix). “Boots created an environment where we can just explore and create art.” Olivia Washington (Flora) said.

The chemistry displayed within the cast is undeniable! “Working with people who keep you at your best”, Carmen Ejogo (Lafrancine) describes in our interview.

I’m A Virgo is set to debut on June 23rd, exclusively on Prime Video.
