Los Angeles native Fenix Flexin, has reemerged in the music industry as a solo artist. Formerly a Shoreline Mafia group member, Flexin has proven that he is still unstoppable on his own.

Just earlier this year, Fenix’s single “10 Toes” achieved 4.5 million views in a short time span. He also collaborated with Bravo the BagChaser on “Bravo Flexin.”

Last Wednesday Fenix revealed the track list and cover art for his new project “FENIXFLEXIN VOL.1”. The tracklist consist of 15 songs with features from Rob Vicious, D-Block Europe, SaySoTheMac, Peso Peso, Bravo the BagChaser, and Drakeo The Ruler. This project will be available on all streaming platforms on June 30.

Even though music might be his first passion, Fenix has decided to tap into the skateboarding world. A hobby that he started in 7th grade, has transformed into a skate inspired clothing line. With perc 30 basketballs, skateboards, clothing, and hats, his company has something to offer to everyone.

Today, Fenix Flexin’s main goal is to remain consistent with his music, and dropping videos every few months for his fans. We are looking forward to his new project later this month. Check out the full interview below.

TheKnockturnal: You’ve been around the music industry since 2017 with Shoreline Mafia, however this past year has been an amazing solo career for you. How would you describe your transition from group member to Solo Artist?

FenixFlexin: It’s kinda like whatever. We were a group and everyone was making their own song. Now, insead of leaving a part open, I just do the whole song. It wasn’t like a big difficult change or nothing.

TheKnockturnal: Was it difficult to rebrand yourself? If so, however, were you able to overcome obstacles thrown your way?

Fenix Flexin: I already had a big fan base. I put a song out and a video and it’s going to get a million every time. I appreciate my fans. The fans really do it. If you  have a strong fan base, no matter what you do it’s going to go up. I was doing the same thing I was doing in a group.

TheKnockturnal: Let’s talk about the single you dropped at the top of 2021, “10 Toes”..  How did this song come together?  You racked up 4.5 million views by yourself in 6 months. How did this feel as a new solo artist?

FenixFlexin: Any beat that’s like that, LA, or Cali type a beat, it’s going to go up. I already knew it was going to go up. The video I was chilling with the homies, shout out to my boy Peso Peso. Me and Peso Peso was kicking it. The video was random, regular shit, everyday shit. It was cool though it went up. Still going up, It’s doing like a million a month.

TheKnockturnal: Just last month you shared a picture of your son at his birthday party and you said “family first yall, don’t forget that now only thing that matters” Would you say your family your motivation for continuing your career as a solo artist?

FenixFlexin: Yes, for sure. You want to be able to give your family as much as you can. I’m trying to be as best as I can be for myself and my family.  I spent a lot of money on a lot of shit, but nothing makes you happy like family. That’s for sure one of the key pointers. Now a days people don’t even speak on that shit like that.

TheKnockturnal: In an industry that is constantly evolving, what do you do to stay on top of trends and make your music stand apart from your peers?

FenixFlexin: What works for me is doing what I be doing. I listen to alot of music, so  I always know what’s going on musically and what sounds are going on. Whatever beats people is fucking with I just mix it with what I got going on and put it out, and I see it does well enough as it is. So that’s what’s working. So I’ll keep doing it.

TheKnockturnal: I heard you freestyle everything on your new project. What was that like? Do you usually always freestyle all of your music?

Fenix Flexin: It was all freestyle besides “RIP Mac P Dog.” I wrote that one. But all the rest of them, it was freestyle. Idk, it’s just the way I record now. It’s easier. It’s the same as writing, it just if you’re writing something  you’re just going to write a line and write another line until you have it all done. So if you record it like that, you can say it instead of writing it down.

The Knockturnal: Congratulations on recently launching your own Skateboarding company “Burnt Co” this year. How did you get into skateboarding? What else are you looking to get into besides music?

Fenix Flexin: When I started skateboarding I was pretty young, I got into it when I was in 7 grade, 2007. I was pretty good and shit. Something I always like to do. I still skate. I’m just happy to be able to do something like that in a way that I can. It will be cool to bring something new to something I like, know what I mean?

The Knockturnal: Your latest project will include features from D Block Era, Bravo, Drakeo, and Peso Peso. What was it like collaborating with them? Who are some other artists you’re looking forward to working with in the future?

Fenix Flexin: Anybody I do a song with, I fuck with their music. I fuck with Bravo, Drakeo, Peso Peso, everybody I have a song with I fuck with it. It’s cool working with them, why would I not want to? You know what I mean? If I like their music, it will be cool.

The Knockturnal:What are you looking forward to the most post pandemic? The shows or touring?

Fenix Flexin: I haven’t done shows in so long it would probably be cool. Now, it’s not like I gotta go on the road for too long, it’s just like a couple weeks. That’s cool, I fuck with that. But really just doing regular shit. I don’t want to wear a mask anymore. I don’t like wearing masks. Like I gotta go somewhere and I gotta wear a mask.

The Knockturnal: What are some things we can look forward to seeing from you as an artist this year besides your upcoming project?

Fenix Flexin: A lot more music videos. After this project drop, 2-3 months after imma drop another project. Consistent work and alot more music. It went from hardly any music to now being in a position to drop all the music I want. So project after project, hit after hit.
