We sat with Dev Patel and Joel Edgerton, who star in David Lowery’s medieval fantasy epic, ‘‘The Green Knight.’
Based on the anonymously-penned 14th century poem, the film follows King Arthur’s nephew, Sir Gawain, on his quest to prove himself a noble knight. He gets his chance when a gigantic tree-like creature called the Green Knight allows Gawain to kill him on the condition that he can return the kill in one year. When that time does come, Gawain goes off to confront the Green Knight again on a personal journey that will test him in ways he never imagined.
“It was a physical journey as much as it was an internal journey” Dev Patel said of portraying Sir Gawain. “I really enjoyed every moment of it. It was amazing!”
“I really like being in the safe hands of a really smart, intuitive, and sensitive director, and David was everything I could have hoped for, plus more.” stated co-star Joel Edgerton on working with writer/director David Lowery “I think the film speaks for itself in terms of his ability to set a table for himself in each world he creates that is worth sitting down to eat at.”
The Green Knight will be released in theaters on July 30th.
