Spotify’s Best New Artist Party attracted stars from all over the entertainment industry – everyone was incredibly excited to see the new artists perform their acclaimed hits and a few celebrity guests shared their thoughts with us.

Derek Hough, known for Dancing With the Stars, gave some advice to new artists tonight hoping to get their name out there: “don’t try to hustle… just have fun. Enjoy the performances and the party.” He also raved about his sister Julianne, saying that “she is absolutely crushing it right now” and “having the best time with the Oprah tour” that she leads a dance workshop for.

The cast of Netflix’s hit show, Cheer, excitedly told us about how the “very sudden” success of their show has “blown [them] away” since they had “no expectations” for where the show would take them. When asked if they enjoyed filming, they said they loved “absolutely every second.” Being invited to Spotify’s popular tonight was “very overwhelming” but they were “so grateful” to have the opportunity to come.

Addison Easterling, 19-year-old TikTok star, voiced her enthusiasm about how much being here tonight with Spotify “was an honor” that felt “absolutely insane” because its “such a huge part of the music industry. She also shared her insight into how “TikTok has been such a huge part of music in the last few months, and it’s really making its name in the music industry” – many artists “are using it as a platform to get their name out there and get their music to the top.” One of tonight’s nominees, Lil Nas X, is an example of how influential TikTok can be in popular culture.
