Actress and star of the show “Little Voice,” Brittany O’Grady,  is a true triple threat; she can sing, dance, and act. In her role as Bess King for Apple TV’s “Little Voice,” Brittany’s raw talent is put on full display.

The show shows a diverse New York and a talented singer trying to let go of fear and chase her dream of being a successful musician. The show features original songs by executive producer Sara Bareilles. The show not only showcases Brittany and Bareilles’ talent, but it shows the beauty and diversity of New York City.

Viewers see Bess King struggling with self-confidence and knowing where she belongs in the music industry, but as her character develops so does her power. In the finale, viewers will be able to see Bess step into her confidence and take ownership over her talents.

However, the show Little Voice not only features music but also explores the nuances and complexities within family dynamics. Audiences are able to see Bess and her immediate family go through the struggles of supporting a sibling on the autism spectrum, dealing with the absence of an estranged mother, and having a father who suffers in silence. Bess also has her chosen family of Prisha and Ben and the three support one another throughout their journey not just within the music industry but as young adults of color. The show speaks to a diversity of realities and experiences that transcends races. Regardless of a viewer’s background the characters are relatable and have the power of making you root for their success.

Little Voice comes at a time where a show that not only represents so many identities but also brings hope is needed. The show and the story of Bess reminds of to be optimistic and to never give up on our dreams not matter how challenging they might seem.
