Summer is rounding the corner in New York City as the city has begun reopening amid the pandemic, and New Yorkers far and wide can celebrate. The Olympic flame has been blown out, and tennis is now back in New York City as the US Open has recently begun at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens, NY.
To celebrate, Black Barn Restaurant, which overlooks Madison Square Park in NoHo, hosted an intimate reopening Tuesday night after the restaurant had been closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Black Barn’s grand reopening also celebrated the return of tennis to New York with the restaurant partnering with the Citi Taste of Tennis Food Truck. Citi’s food truck featured signature dishes by Black Barn’s Chef John Doherty, including a savory almond tartlet with wild mushrooms, goat cheese, and watercress and a phenomenal Chicken Milanese sandwich with tomato and pesto aioli for free to everyone that stopped by the food truck.
While the Citi Taste of Tennis Food Truck was parked outside Black Barn, inside featured an intimate soiree with cocktails and decadent signature bites from incredibly friendly staff. In homage to the US Open, Black Barn was also serving their limited addition avocado-based “Serve and Volley” cocktail.
The Citi Taste of Tennis Food Truck is part of a three-week tour beginning in Washington, D.C., concluding in NYC, celebrating the return of tennis to New York. The tour ends on August 26th with a live celebration at Tavern On The Green featuring live performances and more from the Citi Taste of Tennis Culinary Team.
