Television stars Vanessa and Angela Simmons are starring in WETV’s “Growing Up Hip-Hop.”
Vanessa and Angela are best known for starring in MTV’s hit-show Run’s House. Vanessa and Angela are the daughters of rapper Joseph Simmons known as Rev. Run. Run’s house looks at the life of Rev. Run his wife and six children as the show highlights their experiences, love for each other, and building their careers.
In Season 6 Angela Simmons has a new love interest, who packs a punch as a professional boxer, but her family, especially sister Vanessa, worry that Angela’s moving too fast and heading towards heartbreak. The women discuss dating during the pandemic and how to date when a child is involved. The Simmon sisters reflect on past seasons. One experience, in particular, is Vanessa experiencing weight gain and her sister being her support system to boost her confidence level. They encourage women to love themselves, speak positivity and surround yourselves with uplifting people.
Vanessa is an advocate for peace for all of her siblings. She believes that there is more to life than confusion and we should be working to be successful. Angela stressed that although they come from hip-hop, they must remember to be safe during their public outings. The sisters express the steps women should take when living a safe and protected life.
