W Hotels launches the new W Amsterdam in grand nautical style.
On Tuesday night, W Hotels invited us to celebrate the grand opening of W Amsterdam by hosting a private boat party aboard the Grand Banks, a luxury yacht docked at Pier 25 on the Hudson River. We were greeted by a fleet of W “sailors” who handed us custom sailor caps as we climbed aboard the ship to the sounds of DJ Mia Moretti. She was spinning tunes from a custom DJ booth bicycle – a cute shout out to Amsterdam’s famous bike culture.
Once aboard we were handed a fruity gin drink called a Salty Dog as the sailors passed around traditional Dutch treats like Bitterballen and Stroopwafels, not to mention hundreds of oysters (the Grand Banks is a floating oyster bar and restaurant when it isn’t hosting hotel events after all).
Of course there were some celebrities on board for the festivities, notably Orange is the New Black star Taylor Schilling and models Chanel Iman and Coco Rocha, who kindly posed with us for some boat selfies against the breathtaking Hudson River sunset.
Taylor Schilling dazzled in Phillip Lim shorts and blazer, a Vatanika blouse, Guiseppe Zanotti Shoes, a McCartney clutch and Jennifer Fisher jewelry.
