PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie [Review: From a 9-Year-Old]

Hey guys! My name is Seven and I’m taking over my mom’s account πŸ™‚

So this week I got to see the new Paw Patrol movie. At first, when my mom told me about it, I was like; I don’t want to go see this movie because it’s going to be too babyish for me. But she forced me to go, of course, and to my surprise, it was actually pretty good and not too babyish at all. So here I am doing my very First Movie Write-up Review! Check out below! (P.S. Mom helped a little, but only a bit.)

Once upon a time in Adventure City, a magical meteor crash-landed with a BOOM! And guess what happened? The PAW PATROL PUPS got Super-duper Powers and became…The MIGHTY PUPS! Β Yeahhhh!

For Skye, the cutest and tiniest pup on the team, this was like a dream come true! She felt like the coolest pup in town! But uh-oh, things took a wild turn when the pups’ biggest nemesis, Humdinger, broke out of jail!! And guess what? He teamed up with Victoria Vance! She’s a totally Β crazy, mad scientist who didn’t want to be called a β€œmad” scientist. Also, she was obsessed with meteors. If meteors could talk, they would say to her, like, why are you so obsessed with me? (Mariah Carey voice lol). Anyway, she and the old mayor wanted to steal the pups’ superpowers to become ultimate supervillains! Β Can you believe that?

Yeah, so as you guessed it, Adventure City was in BIG trouble! The fate of the whole city was hanging by a thread. Β And who could save the day? Duh, The Mighty Pups of course! They had to stop those sneaky supervillains before it was too late. Β It was up to Skye and her superpowers to show everyone that even the tiniest pup could make the biggest, most awesome difference!

So, get ready for an epic, mind-blowing adventure where the Mighty Pups will fight, fly, and use their super-duper powers to protect Adventure City! It’s time to show those baddies that nobody messes with the PAW Patrol! Let’s go, Mighty Pups, let’s save the day!

Bridging the Wealth Divide: ‘Dumb Money’ Chronicles the Modern-Day Struggle of David vs. Goliath

The story kicks off in the summer of 2019, introducing Keith Gill, brilliantly portrayed by Paul Danoβ€”a Chartered Financial Analyst and YouTuber. Gill passionately champions the undervalued GameStop stock on platforms like YouTube and Reddit, attracting a growing legion of everyday individuals. As the movement gains momentum, Wall Street’s titans grow increasingly uneasy. In the end, Gill and his cohort of investors achieve unprecedented success, leaving Wall Street’s elite reeling from substantial losses.

Paul Dano’s portrayal of Gill is exceptional, capturing the essence of a quirky yet savvy YouTuber and financial analyst. His performance adds depth to the intricate financial machinations beneath the surface. Supported by a stellar cast including Seth Rogen, Vincent D’Onofrio, Pete Davidson, America Ferrera, Sebastian Stan, Shailene Woodley, and Anthony Ramos, the ensemble contributes to the film’s formidable impact.

Director Craig Gillespie, known for his work on “Cruella,” maintains an engaging pace, translating the script into a visually captivating narrative. Despite the potentially intimidating financial jargon, the film ensures accessibility, breaking down complex concepts for a diverse audience.

“Dumb Money” promises an engaging experience for all, whether you’re a financial enthusiast looking to revisit a captivating chapter of history or someone intrigued by the real-life clash between financial giants and the underdogs.

Award-winning composer Hildur GuΔ‘nadΓ³ttir on “A Haunting in Venice”

Inspired by the novel Hallowe’en Party,Β director Kenneth Branagh stars inΒ A Haunting in Venice as famed detective Hercule Poirot. Set in eerie, post-World War II Venice on All Hallows’ Eve is a terrifying mystery featuring the return of the celebrated sleuth, Hercule Poirot. Now retired and living in self-imposed exile in the world’s most glamorous city, Poirot reluctantly attends a sΓ©ance at an old, haunted palazzo. When one of the guests is murdered, he is thrusted into a sinister world of shadows and secrets.

Familiar with Kenneth Branagh’s works, composer HildurΒ GuΓ°nadΓ³ttir jumped on board when asked to join this project. In our interview with her, she gives a preview of how she developed the music score for this film and explains the importance of music in story-telling.

“My beginning point is always to look at what world we are in , in the film, and how the music can best serve the story and the whole universe, in that film,”Β GuΓ°nadΓ³ttir said.

She added, “In a story like ‘A Haunting in Venice,’ it takes on a more … I guess, instead of the score leading the character from in front of the character, it works much more in parallel and from the subconscious mind.”

“It’s all these physiological things about how the way the music works I think with and in connection with storytelling that I find so interesting about writing film scores, is to play with these different ways of hearing and perceiving music and how you can be moved by it in a very different but effective way,” GuΓ°nadΓ³ttir said.

“A Haunting in Venice” is set to premiere in theaters September 15, 2023.

Bryson Tiller Drops Original Song For β€˜PAW Patrol’ Movie And Talks New Album

If you’ve ever talked to or been around a child then you’ve probably heard of PAW Patrol.

The Nickelodeon children’s show first premiered in 2013 and has since spiraled into one of the network’s most successful shows. From toys and merchandise to live shows, PAW Patrol has accomplished what most children’s programs could only dream of doing: world domination.

It’s in your homes, in your phones, on your TV, and now in your theatres. PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie will be making its way to the big screen at the end of this month and expect to hear some familiar voices, as well.

The film includes a celeb-packed cast and voiceovers from Taraji P. Henson, Kim Kardashian and her kids North and Saint West, Kristen Bell, Marsai Martin, and more.

Based on the beloved characters from the show, PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie follows the whole gang of pups as they venture through their town of Adventure City to defeat supervillains and protect their community.

When a magical meteor crash lands in Adventure City, it gives the PAW Patrol pups superpowers, transforming them into The MIGHTY PUPS! For Skye, the smallest member of the team, her new powers are a dream come true. But things take a turn for the worse when the pups’ arch-rivalΒ Humdinger breaks out of jail and teams upΒ withΒ Victoria Vance, a meteor-obsessed mad scientist,Β to steal the superpowersΒ and turn themselves into supervillains. With theΒ fate of Adventure City hanging in the balance, the Mighty PupsΒ have toΒ stop the supervillains before it’s too late, and Skye will need to learn that even the smallest pup can make the biggest difference.

PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie features all-new, original songs from Bryson Tiller, Christina Aguilera, Mckenna Grace, and Blackbear.

Turns out the puppy cops are pretty popular amongst the adults, as well.

Bryson has been MIA musically for a while now but his initial reaction to being asked to be a part of the film’s soundtrack was nothing short of excitement.

β€œAs soon as I saw it, I was like β€˜hell yeah, I’m doing this right away.’”

We chatted with Bryson about his deep love for the puppies in uniform and, of course, when he plans on gracing us with new music.

So, let’s talk about this new song that you have for the new PAW Patrol film, β€œDown Like That.” Could you tell me more about how this came about, when you were approached with this were you all for it or did you need convincing from your kids?

Bryson Tiller: Oh no, I was all for it right away. They didn’t even have to- They didn’t even know about it. As soon as I saw it, excuse my language, I was just like β€œHell yes” I’m doing this right away.

Really? Are you a PAW Patrol fan?

Bryson Tiller: It was just more so the fact that I just always wanted to be a part of something, you know, like a kid’s TV show or movie, you know, soundtrack or whatever. I watched the first movie with my daughter a while ago when it came out, the first PAW Patrol movie. So just yeah, it was a no-brainer for me.

Could we see you doing maybe some acting or voice-overs in the future?

Bryson Tiller: Acting, voiceovers, I don’t know. Maybe, yeah maybe voiceovers. I don’t know about acting.

Well, speaking of music, we all know you’ve kind of been in and out of the music scene over the years. So, when you do drop something does it feel like an unofficial return or like a warm-up for when you do officially drop?

Bryson Tiller: Sometimes I guess, I don’t know. I like to create music. People know this about me. I like to just, kind of the way I came up in the music industry was just creating something and releasing creations to the public right away on my own time. With albums and stuff, it’s a sample clearances and all this different stuff. So, it’s not like I can just make the music and then just upload it to Apple Music myself tomorrow. I wish that I could do it that way, I think that would be better. Just trying to get used to this new thing. So anyways, when I do release music it’s not really like, β€œOh, I’m gearing up for my return! It’s coming!” or anything like that. I just like to create things and share them with the world.

That’s good to know. Cause I was definitely going to ask if you were pulling a Rihanna on us. I didn’t know if we would ever going to see you again, so you know, I just had to make sure. You’re very active on Twitch, you’re a full-time father. Sometimes you’re streaming, sometimes you’re making music for films like this or you’re doing features. Like, the song you did with Diddy recently. Or you might even drop a mini EP on SoundCloud. What can we expect from you in the future, musically? If you can talk about it, or if you’d like to talk about it!

Bryson Tiller: Yeah, absolutely I can talk about it. I’m releasing an album soon, I’ve been working on it for some time now. I finished it, well at least I thought I finished it earlier this year. I would say I finished the first phase of the album, like just something to listen to, dissect, and see what’s missing.

So, the first phase of the album, I finished it. Now I’m preparing to go back to LA to really finish this thing so I can release it on time for next year. Yeah, I’m super excited about it. You mentioned the Rihanna thing, I actually do plan on taking a bit of a hiatus after this album just to get closer to my kids and do a lot of other passions that are important to me.

On the Scene: At the Pre-Party and Screening of National Geographic’s “The Space Race”

The Central Park Conservancy, in partnership with National Geographic, kicked off their 20th Annual Central Park Conservancy Film Festival on Tuesday, August 15th with a screening of National Geographic’s The Space Race.

A pre-screening reception took place across the street at Central Park’s premier restaurant, The Tavern Green, just right across the street where the screening would later take place in Sheep Meadow. Among the guests in attendance were directors Lisa CortΓ©s and Diego Hurtado de Mendoza, along with NASA astronaut Leland Melvin, who not only shared his insights and experiences in the film, but also served as one of the doc’s producers. Enjoying a selection of charcuterie and small bites, along with a pasta bar and a wine bar, guests mingled as a jazz band played in the back.

Attendees were then directed to head over to Sheep Meadow to a private viewing area to watch The Space Race on an inflatable screen. Each guest received a National Geographic swag bag with a waterproof blanket and a selection of sustainable and plant-based snacks to enjoy during the film.

The Space Race, which made its official premiere at the Tribeca Festival back in June, was an eye-opening deep-dive into the history of Black Americans in NASA, and the unjust barriers they had to overcome that, ultimately, prevented some trailblazers, such as Captain Ed Dwight, from taking part in our country’s earliest space missions. Yet, it came with much satisfaction to hear everyone cheer for Nichelle Nichols (who passed away in July of last year) as the film featured a PSA in which the Star TrekΒ star spoke to everyone, including “minorities and women alike,” to apply to NASA. “Now is YOUR time,” she said, giving the brilliant minds she had already inspired as Lt. Nyota Uhura the push they needed to shoot for their dreams.

Thanks to a documentary like The Space Race, every Black astronaut who answered that call, and those who paved the way for them to find their place in NASA, now have their legacy cemented in the starsβ€”where future astronauts can look up to them in awe.
