Neon lights highlighted the midnight blue runway at the Spring/Summer 2018 Collection debut of Emanuel Ungaro.
Taking place on September 29 at Paris Fashion Week in the prestigious restaurant, Pavillon Ledoyen. The models had minimal makeup and their hair was swept into a low messy bun. Mixed hues of violet, cobalt and pearl stood out among polka-dots, florals and jewel embellishments. Gathered tulle, ruched sleeves and defined waists where common motifs among the dresses, blouses and blazers. Overall, Unargo refreshingly represented bold colors and offered variety through the modern silhouette.
We spoke with MAC Cosmetic’s lead make up artist behind the look, Mark Carrasquillo, who explained how he gave each model clear luminous skin.
“So we started with just a little black pencil on the bottom lash line so it gives it kind of a dirty eye. But basically, just curled clean lashes and brushed up brow. We’re being super honest with the girls skin color, we’re not trying to change anything, we’re just making the skin really luminous and gorgeous. Then added a tiny kiss of a color, like a light blush. We are looking at every girl and it depends on how her skin looks then just taking it one or two shades brighter, creating like a hazy cheek. It’s not like a hard line cheek, there’s no contour it’s just kind of like from the cheek going back it fades light to dark. It’s really just pretty, that’s all. We used a lip gloss on the eye lid so it’s a little shiny. It’s all about where you put shine and where you keep things matte, but overall it’s super natural.”
