Actress and activist Jameela Jamil was on hand as host and DJ for most of the night. There was music, food, drinks, and a photobooth that generated Boomerangs that the guests could post on social media when the night ended. Elle Editor-in-chief Nina Garcia offered some words to the attendees about the power of women in the music industry and women in general, stressing how important and special women are. She then introduced the night’s performer Camila Cabello.
Camila performed three acoustic versions of her biggest hits. First up was Havana with included a mix of Cardi B, Bad Bunny, and J Balvin’s I Like It, followed by Never Be the Same, and finally she ended with her Billboard-topping hit with Shawn Mendes, Señorita. Although she didn’t sing them, she did talk a bit about her newer singles Shameless and Liar. Unfortunately, Lizzo who was also scheduled to perform could not attend because of illness but Nina Garcia Facetimed her, and Lizzo was able to thank Elle and those in attendance for all their love and support. Billie Eilish was also not in attendance as she is currently on tour in Russia.
