How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
Eight. I love Eight Korean BBQ in at LEAST that many ways. The fine pork purveyor invites ravenous guests to try eight flavors of pork belly, a challenge I have met and exceeded many times.
Then, suddenly, paradise. They’ve added Flaming Hots flavored items to their already delectable selections.
The aptly-named Pork Belly Flaming Hots had the salty, peppery kick I expect from this place, but with added crunch and spice from the Flamin Hots. My only hesitation coming into this was that the Flamin Hots would overpower the pork belly, but they were surprisingly and perfectly subtle. It was more of a smokey vibe than anything.
Fried Rice with, you guessed it, Flamin Hots, was also a success. This time hots were sort of baked into the mix, like a delicious, spicy fried rice casserole. The crunch was sort of surprising this time around, like finding delicious Cheerios in your lasagna. Strong recommend.
I also tried the K town smash burger, which I’m sure is a smash hit here. It oozes gochujang mayo and mozzarella cheese and features two pork belly and brisket blend patties. I want that sentence tattooed on me.
The patties are smushed between the beloved bolo buns, sweet and soft. The buns were a fantastic complement to the contents therein, a nice sweet-salty contrast.
Gotta shout out the tofu that arrived as part of the ban chan, which are essentially apps but more set in stone. Slight spice, great, tangy flavor, and a perfectly cooked tofu.
Not sure if you can believe this, but I’ll be back. I’ve got the hots for this place.
