Cynthia Rowley approached NYFW in a whole new way for her Autumn/Winter collection, hosting an All-Female Comedy show at Sony Hall.
The show included 8 comedians including Rachel Feinstein, Claudia Oshry, Rosebud Baker, Ego Nwodim, Nikki Glaser, Arden Myrin, Michelle Buteau and hosted by Esther Ku, all wearing Cynthia Rowley.
Each piece sported by the comediennes were made with them in mind. The looks included florals, pastel-colored prints and classically tailored pink stitches rendered in the brand’s signature sport fabric.
“The Great Escape” for Fall/Winter 2023 represented the blend of grit and glamour. Fashion and Comedy are both an escape for Rowley and the night centered around breaking free of the current world for a bit of comedic relief.
Rowley has tried to keep fashion fun since the brand debuted, even noting that she spends 10 minutes listening to stand-up comedy to start off her mornings. The idea for the brands NYFW event all started last summer when Rowley hosted a stand-up comedy show at her Montauk store. That night seeded the debut of her Autumn/Winter collection being another night of laughs. “It was a long standing dream fulfilled to have a night with all of my favorite funny ladies on one stage.” explained Cynthia Rowley
“I see fashion and comedy serving women in the same way. If you can be funny, you can feel confident. If you love what you’re wearing you feel confident. And if you can have both, even better.”
