Last night, I had the pleasure of attending an unforgettable evening curated by the legendary Crystal Waters. The celebration was pure artistry, music, fashion, and community all coming together in one space.
The event was hosted by Nolé Marin, world-renowned fashion director, celebrity stylist, and television personality. Known globally for his work on America’s Next Top Model and Canada’s Next Top Model, Marin has styled for Vogue, Elle, and Harper’s Bazaar, as well as collaborated with cultural icons like Beyoncé, Tyra Banks, Heidi Klum, and Alicia Keys. His presence brought an elevated, polished energy to the evening.
I came with my new tripod and mic, ready to work. Even though the RSVP list was packed and I couldn’t get right up front, being tall gave me the perfect angle to capture moments for our socials. The room was electric from the second Crystal hit the stage. Her performance transported us back to when she first broke through with Gypsy Woman (She’s Homeless), while reminding us she’s still innovating and defining house music today.
A personal highlight for me was meeting Novi Brown (Instagram), actress and star of BET’s hit series Sistas. Our exchange was beautiful and genuine. She truly has a gift for seeing the beauty in others, which mirrors the way the world sees her. Her effortless style and warmth lit up the space, a reminder of why she remains such a beloved presence on screen and in person.
