cosmosy: Global Girl Group with Debut Track “Lucky=One” Redefining Concepts and Nostalgia

4.1K

Combine your 2000s and early ’90s aesthetic into one and create an idol girl group composed entirely of Japanese members—with a global twist. Performing songs in both English and Korean, you get cosmosy. You’re a “Lucky One.”

Their debut single, “Lucky=One,” leads with a house-pop sound and follows the girls through multiple visual concepts. The four members—himesha, de_hana, kamión, and a’mei—are transported into a fairytale-like sequence, all dressed in white with matching white hair and colored contacts. The look gives off an ethereal, otherworldly vibe that stands out both visually and aesthetically.

This time around, cosmosy’s visual concept leans into a bright, elfin twist, with each member rocking vivid hair colors and colored contacts in the concept photos—a bold contrast from their pre-debut look. On embracing this transformation, a’mei shared, “We wanted to show everyone a bold and powerful concept that captures our transformation into girl warriors.”

Check out the song and music video below!

With a concept this rich and refreshing—mixing J-pop and K-pop elements in a totally new way—cosmosy stands out. The four-member group was founded by former BLACKPINK and YG Entertainment Creative Director SJ Shin, also known as SINXITY, and they’re kicking off their debut with a nostalgic yet forward-looking vision you won’t want to miss.

Within less than two weeks, the music video has taken off, garnering over 8 million streams.

As they fully step into the cosmos—and the spotlight—their group name symbolizes the “Possibilities of Youth” and the “Infinity of the Cosmos,” reflecting their mission to explore limitless potential and growth.

We had the chance to chat with the group about their debut single, “Lucky=One,” their creative direction, and get to know the members a little better.

From de_hana and kamión’s shared history on the same survival show to how all four came together—check out the full conversation below!

THE KNOCKTURNAL: cosmosy! It’s such a pleasure to chat with you all. Your concept is truly one of a kind, and you’ve all showcased that with your pre-debut work.

THE KNOCKTURNAL: What do you think makes cosmosy stand out globally? You’re all Japanese, yet your K-pop group has expanded to include not only Japanese lyrics but also Korean and English, as seen in your pre-debut track “zigy=zigy.” What does global expansion mean to cosmosy?

kamión: We believe it’s thanks to everyone finding our debut stage refreshing as we stepped out with a new concept. Our goal is to share our unique charm and strengths with the world— and for all of you to truly feel that.

THE KNOCKTURNAL: Speaking of “zigy=zigy,” this track took off with 10 million views within two weeks! What was your initial reaction to all the love that the song was given? Were you all expecting that?

himesha: We didn’t expect it at all, so we were really surprised. We’re so happy the response was bigger than we imagined, and we’re truly grateful for all the love and support from everyone.

THE KNOCKTURNAL: Now, let’s talk about your new single, “Lucky=One.” As your debut track, why this track? It’s all in English too! What’s the significance behind being a “Lucky One”?

himesha: When we first heard the song while choosing our track, we instantly thought, ‘This is it!’—it was just that good, so we chose it. The phrase ‘Lucky=One’ carries the meaning that every connection and all the love we receive are the greatest forms of luck.

THE KNOCKTURNAL: “Lucky=One” is all about love arriving as a happy coincidence that blossoms into destiny. The lyrics express that yearning certainty of two souls meant to be. How does this theme of destined love resonate with the message you want to share through this song?

de_hana: We believe debuting as cosmosy and meeting our precious members and fans has been the greatest luck of all. We want to remind everyone that sometimes the greatest luck is actually the closest to you.

THE KNOCKTURNAL: I’d say cosmosy’s music so far has been very experimental and uniquely your own! Where do each of you like to draw inspiration from? Let’s dive into what each member looks forward to in music!

himesha: “Whenever I’m alone, music is always by my side. I believe it has the power to lift someone’s mood no matter how low they feel.”

de_hana: “When I’m feeling down, I absolutely need music. It helps me reset and turn things around.”

kamión: “I find myself wanting to listen to music when I’m looking up at the sky from inside the car. I also turn to music when I want to manage and control my emotions.”

a’mei: “I listen to music when I want to feel more confident. It’s something I naturally turn to during commutes, school runs, or drives.”

THE KNOCKTURNAL: I’d love to learn more about the members: himesha, de_hana, kamión, and a’mei. Can each of you tell us more about yourselves and what your journey into cosmosy has looked like?

himesha: I’m himesha from cosmosy. I may come off as cool at first, but I think I have a fun and playful side too. I’ve been dancing since I was three—15 years in total—and becoming a dancer was my dream. Then I got scouted, and the opportunity inspired me to take on a new challenge. That’s how I became a member of cosmosy.

de_hana: I’m de_hana from cosmosy. I think my charm is my deep, low voice. People often say I’m like a soft, fluffy white bunny. I started out doing musicals as a kid, but after seeing K-pop idols perform, I was inspired to become one too. That dream led me to participate in PRODUCE 101 JAPAN, and even after that, I never gave up. Eventually, it brought me here—to cosmosy.

kamión: I’m kamión from cosmosy, born and raised in Osaka, and I love to chit-chat! My favorite foods are chicken and pork. I’ve been a big idol fan for a long time, and becoming a K-pop artist was always my dream. After appearing on PRODUCE 101 JAPAN, I became determined to achieve my dream as an idol—and now I’ve finally made that dream come true with cosmosy.

a’mei: I’m a’mei from cosmosy. I’m the youngest in the group and known for my bright, cheerful personality. I love junk food! I think my charm is that even though I’m the youngest, I have a bit of a “mom” vibe—and I’m also quite tall. I started dancing when I was three and have trained in many different styles. I’ve competed in dance contests and battles, performed in artists’ projects, and even worked as a model. Then I was cast through the cosmosy project, and I knew I wanted to take on the challenge, so here I am.

THE KNOCKTURNAL: de_hana and kamión, you both were on the same survival show and shared the stage there— now you’re sharing it again as part of cosmosy! How has your journey together evolved from that experience to now?

kamión: I think de_hana and I have a lot in common, and that’s why we’ve been able to support each other so well.

de_hana: This is actually my first time sharing this—but after we were eliminated from the survival show, we happened to sit next to each other on the Shinkansen (bullet train) to Osaka. From that moment, it felt like fate.

When asked about what they hope to explore in the future, a’mei shared their excitement about experimenting with different sounds and styles. “We would love to try out all kinds of music genres—everything from ballads and pop to powerful hip-hop and even band sounds,” a’mei explained. “We want to explore a wide range of styles!”

As for their message to fans, cosmosy expressed heartfelt gratitude. “Thank you all so much for your continuous support,” they said. “We believe there will be many more opportunities to meet in the future, so please look forward to it! We would also appreciate your continued support for cosmosy. Please show lots of love for ‘Lucky=One’!”

As cosmosy continues crafting future projects, their goal is to inspire young fans around the world by embracing cultural diversity, self-expression, and boundless creativity. Check out more of cosmosy below as they set themselves up to leave a mark on the global pop scene.
