On August 21, BMI hosted Multi-platinum-selling artist Cody Johnson and eight-time GRAMMY winner Carrie Underwood in its Nashville office on Music Row to celebrate their No. One hit “I’m Gonna Love You.” Alongside them for the celebration were BMI songwriters Kelly Archer (5th No. One), Travis Denning (2nd No. One) and Chris Stevens (2nd No. One) along with producer Trent Willmon. The song is the lead single from Johnson’s Leather Deluxe Edition album and his fourth consecutive No. One hit.
Leslie Roberts of BMI emceed the party, with each of the artists and songwriters giving speeches about the authentic storytelling and lyrical artistry behind the track. The song was written nine years ago before now finding its home with Johnson and Underwood. The event was sponsored by Studio Bank, and Ron Cox made a special donation on behalf of Johnson, Underwood and the songwriters to the Different Day Foundation, a charity founded by Cody and his wife Brandi which serves as a beacon of hope for women survivors seeking recovery and healing from prostitution, trafficking, and addiction.
Congratulations to the song’s entire team and thank you to BMI for a great night!
