We caught up with Canadian duo Once a Tree, who’s debut album is due out this November.
They released their new video on Friday. Listen to it here.
–
What inspired your band name and how did the band come about?
–
The name ‘Once A Tree’ comes from the idea that death is an illusion and that energy never dies. It just transforms into something else.
–
Tell us about your new song.
–
We wrote and recorded ‘Fine’ in Los Angeles. The song is about being independent and having the courage and strength to walk away from anything that isn’t good for you.
–
Tell us about the video? Why is it set in Thailand?
–
Shooting this visual was a crazy experience! With a crew of four including myself and Hayden, so it was truly bare bones. We had our friend over for drinks one night while we were brainstorming ideas for the video and she mentioned that she was heading to Thailand. So we took it as a sign and two weeks later Hayden and I, along with my two girl friends (who are both super talented – photographer & stylist) were on a 23-hour trip across the world. We connected with two awesome dancers in Bangkok who choreographed the dance scene for us. Shot every day for a week. Got robbed by monkeys. And then cut the video on our many flights back home to Toronto.
