The chic sister bar of the Chinatown staple
New Yearโs Eve is one of the most lively, yet stressful, times of year.ย There is an abundance of things to do but itโs sometimes hard to figure out the spot that you and your loved ones will have the most fun.ย But one recommendation we have is at Apotheke Nomad.ย Apotheke Nomad is the sister bar of the award-winning and beloved Chinatown bar and features all the glitz and glam that the Chinatown location has.ย The location is in the Nomad area of Manhattan where the entrance is a small, unassuming door next to Sonder Flatiron.ย At the door you will be greeted and taken downstairs to their gorgeous lounge area.ย Here you can eat and drink under dim lighting and some of the chicest interior furniture.ย This scene feels like you are transported from the hustle and bustle of the city to a luxurious Parisian speakeasy.
What makes Apotheke Nomad even better is the addition of their penthouse seats.ย If you make your reservation early enough, you can find yourself placed in their rooftop seats. To get to the rooftop, you are taken through the main dining area and into an elevator that drops you off at the rooftop.ย Once you get there you canโt help but notice this intimate space filled with 5-6 tables in the area.ย The bar is only a few feet away and the bartenders and staff are at full attention ready to make you the drink of your choice.ย And on the warmer days you can venture out onto the rooftop area where you can sip on cocktails while looking over Manhattan.ย We wanted to note that like the sister bar in Chinatown, Apotheke Nomad has an extensive list of cocktails filled with ingredients you would not see in any other bar.ย With that, each staff member was extremely helpful with guiding us through the menu and making perfect recommendations based on our mood.ย ย ย One of our favorite drinks was called the Oh Happy Day and is their take on a classic Old Fashioned.ย Except this drink adds extra flavors of pomegranate, rooibos reduction, and APO cerebral bitters that not only balances the drink but enhances the natural flavors from the whiskey and orange.
Apotheke Nomad is open on New Yearโs Eve from 6pm to 2am and includes new menu items into the mix that you wouldnโt get on a regular outing.ย Some highlights include
- The Dark Harvest โ made with gin, blackberry, black cherry juice, lime, ginger, and ground cardamom
- Fest of Midwinter โ made with gin, aquavit, bartlett pear puree, lemon, red wine, and ground nutmeg
- Caviar and Champagne Pairing โย offering three luxurious and sustainable types of caviar, each is served with traditional accompaniments and suggested champagne
