Perhaps we need to laugh more than ever these days.
And right on time, CBS is launching You’re Laughing at CBS, a movement highlighting its quartet of fall comedies premiering next month – celebrating the laughter and fun CBS has generated through its comedies throughout its history.

The event, titled CBS Presents: You’re Laughing at CBS: A Night of ‘Sit-Down’ Comedy — and held at NeueHouse in Hollywood on Wednesday, September 18 — saw CBS Monday night comedy stars Max Greenfield (THE NEIGHBORHOOD) and Damon Wayans Jr. (POPPA’S HOUSE) emceeing a night of laughs for lucky fans, tastemakers.
NeueHouse, along with being the current location for where some of LA’s trendsetters hang out nowadays, is also the iconic site of L.A.’s original CBS Studios… once home to the filming of CBS’ beloved classic I LOVE LUCY.
With a nod to CBS’ “sit-down comedy” theme, the evening kicked off with a special “sit-and-repeat” press line. The event featured a Q&A session with some of CBS’ biggest stars, along with previews of the new CBS fall comedy series POPPA’S HOUSE and GEORGIE & MANDY’S FIRST WEDDING, as well as advance peeks at the upcoming seasons of the network’s established series GHOSTS and THE NEIGHBORHOOD.

The event also kicked off CBS’ Comfy Blue Sofa Tour, an inviting way to connect with fans across the country and to celebrate the Network’s imminent rollout of new – and returning-favorite – dramas, comedies, and reality series.
CBS’ Comfy Blue Sofa Tour, in partnership with home furnishing and technology brand Lovesac, is set to hit the road throughout the country through October 12 (the eve of CBS Premiere Week as Premiere Week, which kicks off on October 13 with hit series TRACKER).
The night also spotlighted some of CBS’ most-loved comedies, like BIG BANG THEORY, MURPHY BROWN, and EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND, in a photo display — while debuting the network’s new chuckling CBS eye logo, an array of “You’re Laughing at CBS.” The chuckling blue stamp is based on the iconic CBS eye logo and will certify for viewers that a show is a guaranteed laugh/“sit-down” CBS comedy.
As part of its shiny new campaign, CBS is officially rebranding the meaning of “sitcom” from situational comedy to “sit-down” comedy — and said that they even reached out to Merriam-Webster to rename and redefine the Sitcom. Of course, the “sitcom” was originally so named because it is called (in long format) the “situational comedy.”

While streamers out stand-up comedy shows, CBS is reinforcing its brand of sit-down comedies, which provide audiences with a simple reason to be fully engaged while, yes, sitting down to watch the situational comedy format.
“Viewers love our comedies and sit down for evenings of ‘laughing at CBS’ – so, with an eye on not taking ourselves too seriously, we were inspired to launch the ‘You’re Laughing at CBS’ comedy campaign this fall,” said Mike Benson, president and chief marketing officer for CBS. “We invite audiences to sit down, relax, and tune in to our two returning and two new ‘sit-down’ comedies, which we’re tagging with laughing CBS eye logos as our pledge of delivering many more laughs to come on CBS.”
