BLACKBARN Brings Holiday Cheer to NoMad with a Santa Brunch for a Cause

The holidays came early to BLACKBARN this week, where the restaurant has transformed its warm, cabin-like interior into a cozy haven for festive brunch. Twinkling seasonal décor, rustic touches, and the warming scent of cinnamon set the tone as Santa and Mrs. Claus float table to table greeting guests. It’s the type of atmosphere that reminds even the grinchiest of New Yorkers what the holidays are all about.

But the heart of the event isn’t the brunch or even the visit from Santa. BLACKBARN is hosting these Santa brunches to support two organizations bringing comfort and joy to children facing hardship this season: The Floating Hospital’s Candy Cane Lane Program and HeartShare St. Vincent’s Services. Both organizations serve New York families in vulnerable situations, offering care, stability, and a little extra brightness during the holidays.

To make the experience memorable for families, the restaurant offers a handful of festive touches. Diners who participate are welcomed with complimentary pumpkin bread and hot apple cider, and kids can write letters to Santa before handing them directly to the big guy himself. A photo station, complete with a ski lift and Santa’s iconic red velvet toy bag, creates a charming backdrop for holiday photos.

Guests are invited to bring a toy to donate, each one destined for a child who might otherwise go without the warmth of a holiday gift. That spirit of giving echoes Chef and owner John Doherty’s hope for the event: to offer a moment of joy to children in difficult circumstances and bring the community together.

BLACKBARN will be hosting one more Santa Brunch on Sunday, December 14th in support of HeartShare St. Vincent’s Services. If you’re looking for a meaningful way to give back and spend a Sunday afternoon together as a family, please make sure you include BLACKBARN on your list of places to go this weekend.

Let’s help fill Santa’s toy bag and remind these children that the city hasn’t forgotten them.
