This NYFW was all about fluidity, and the sleek runway hairstyles showcased the versatility of all that hair can become. For Jonathan Simkhai, fluidity played many parts in the intricate aspects of both his runway designs, and the styling that takes place behind the scenes. Backstage, hairstylist Odile Gilbert worked to create two incredible styles with the help of TRESemmé. For Rodarte, Odile created The Gothic Fairy; and for Jonathan Simkhai, she created The Sleek Side Part.
“Inspired by Jonathan Simkhai’s collection, the hairstyle embodies the individuality inside each of us,” Odile said. “Every look is slightly different to accentuate the natural beauty of the hair, yet each is defined by polished sleekness for a conducive look.”

The Breakdown:
- STEP 1: To add shine with natural movement before blow drying, apply TRESemmé Pro Infusion Fluid Smooth Hair Tonic Water evenly throughout damp hair imparting a smooth and silky finish.
- STEP 2: Once completely dried straight, part the hair to one side using a pintail comb. PRO TIP – Use the middle of the eye as a guide for side part placement.
- STEP 3: Apply TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Heat Protect Spray to protect the hair and seal in shine before using a flat iron to create a pin straight texture.
- STEP 4: Finish the look with a mist of TRESemmé Ultra Fine Hair Spray for natural control.

Fluidity was ever present on the runway as well, as Simkhai, recently rebranded from Jonathan Simkhai, was full of a wide variety of bold and dark colors and styles. The looks paired beautifully with Odile’s styling.

Simkhai is known for his lavish parties and later that night he celebrated the launch of the collection with a fantastic after party at Manhattan’s iconic club, Jeans. The evening was celebrated with a paloma as it’s signature drink and featured a lavish lineup of attendees.
