“Uber luscious skin – the cool girl who is never too cool for highlighter”
Through the hustle and bustle of NYFW, going backstage and seeing how a show comes together is quite the experience. As it proved how integral every member of the team is. Whether it’s the models, the makeup or the designers.
Nicole Thompson is a Senior Makeup Artist with MAC. She is quite the character, with her pink cotton candy hair and bubbly personality.
Her warm energy came through even when giving direction to her fellow makeup artists. She was approachable, devoted, and passionate about helping make this TOME show vision really shine and come to life.
When meeting and talking to Thompson, the first thing she mentioned that would summarize the look is that:
“Everybody needs a good highlight. There’s nobody that doesn’t do highlighter.”
As Thompson was discussing her approach to the TOME show makeup look, she was simultaneously showcasing the approach on one of the models.
When discussing the MAC brushes being used, Thompson said the following:
“…They’re kind of the hero of doing this kind of makeup really well without it looking stripy or heavy in any areas. It’s just using these soft brushes to really touch the entire face with highlight rather than just doing it on just the high points. So that way they look just really healthy, which in the middle of the selfie; great.”
Below is a sheet from MAC with a look into Thompson’s steps when it came to her artistic application and approach to the models’ skin, eyes, brows and lips.
