MAC Cosmetics’ lead makeup designer, Romero Jennings, talks the look for Yazbukey’s show at Paris Fashion Week ’16!
What is the inspiration for the makeup today?
Romero Jennings: It is a story of one woman. This story is based off of the story of the woman in the movie Fatal Attraction. The makeup today is a very Robert Palmer girl vibe. It is inspired by the 80’s with a red lip and smokey eye. It totally is like a Charlie perfume commercial from the late 70’s with, hot girls, short skirts, and girls sitting around playing instruments.
Romero Jennings: The makeup is very simple in the sense that we are mainly focusing on the red lips and smokey eyes. We are doing a Matte Velvet skin with of course my favorite, the Retro Matte Liquid Lipstick. I think it is good makeup for the fall because people are bored with the nothing and what I love about this show is that people say let’s go to Yazbukey because they know there is going to be makeup. Yazbukey doesn’t play. He does something different every season. His show is one of the main reasons I look forward to coming to Paris. This show is different because of the way it is setup and also because of the cast of characters. It is staged like a theatre instead of a straight runway and also the characters range from models to real people, to some performers. All of them are really interesting faces and the make up is hot.
What other MAC products are you using?
We are also using : The Feline Pencil in the water line, The Black Track on the lid, The Water Proof Haute and Naughty Mascara. Also because there are three performances, I decided to make the makeup water proof. That is one of the main things I love about MAC Cosmetics, is that the makeup stays in place and everything lasts.
