The Knockturnal was invited backstage at the Angel Sanchez S/S 2016 presentation on September 15, 2016.
Hair: Jordi Martinez for Fekkai
What was today’s overall concept?
Angel Sanchez wanted to recreate a tropical garden, with lots of color, light, and dramatic shapes.
What did designer Angel Sanchez envision for hair?
A tousled look using products by Fekkai.
Can you give readers a overview of the process?
First use the Fekkai Mending Elixir and apply to damp hair, you want the hair to look fresh and clean while also maintaining a rich and smooth look. Make an uneven middle part and take a bristle brush which will give a flattering appearance in the face and soft volume in the roots of the hair. Finally, apply a small amount of the Blowout Sealing Serum and finger comb the hair, separating the ends in thick locks, creating a thin-ends look.
Nails: Gina Edwards for Morgan Taylor Lacquer
Tell me about today’s manicure.
Because of the exuberant use of floral in the collection we went with a classic neutral with a matte finish.
Which colors did you use?
In the Nude and Mattes A Wrap, two coats of the ‘In the Nude’ topped with ‘Mattes A Wrap’ to bring down the shine giving you a clean finished look.
How would you describe today’s nails in four words or less?
Natural, Earthy, Beautiful, Healthy.
Makeup: Gisel Calvillo for MAC Cosmetics
How was the makeup used in conjunction to the lively colored clothing today?
We wanted to bring out the colors of the garments so we replicated them in today’s makeup look, keeping the face clean and moisturized with a bold eye.
Which would you say was the most used product for today’s look?
The taupe blush and eyeshadows.
The eyeshadow on each model is slightly different and tailored to her wardrobe, how was this done?
Taupe blush was softly applied to each model’s eye crease, Joy Toy Foiled Eyeshadow was then pressed into the lids, under the eye, and on the tear duct to illuminate. A mix of Lightly Tauped Studio EyeGloss and Shine Mixing Medium was applied on top and under the eye lids. Eye lashes were curled and no mascara was used.
