b michael America channels 60’s style.
“Sylvia!
Yes Mickey?
How do you call your loverboy?
Come here loverboy!”
For you confused folks out there, the above is a snippet from the song “Love is Strange” from the movie “Dirty Dancing”, you know, that seriously epic classic movie with Jennifer Grey (Baby) and Patrick Swayze (Johnny). Now I’m not taking you on some wild goose chase on this review, don’t worry. The reason I mentioned “Dirty Dancing” is because the b michael America spring 2016 collection reminded me so much of the classic styles from the movie. The menswear was very classic-man meets the Hamptons –tailored, simple and dapper –think b michael America’s version of Robbie –still talking Dirty Dancing folks. The ladies’ designs though had such a classic feminine vibe shown in garments like the mermaid tail dresses and the A-line and form fitting minis. This spring ’16 collection really focused on accentuating the parts of a woman’s body that we like to show and men like to look at such as the; waist, legs, bust and arms.
Among his clients are singer/actress Brandy, philanthropist Jean Shafiroff, actresses Cicely Tyson and Katrina Peebles. These ladies, among others, continue to support b Michael America as one of the brands that fully and wholeheartedly commit to being made in America.
At b michael America’s Spring ’16 runway, notables such as; Valerie Simpson, Henni Kessler, Tamara Tunie, Phylicia Rashad, Karen Phillips, Mark-Anthony Edwards, Pamela Newkirk, Sharon Bowen, Amelia Ogunlesi, Jean Shafiroff, Flo Anthony and Myrna Colley-Lee sat front row to catch the show, and I bet they had the time of their lives. That they owe all to b michael America–yes Dirty Dancing reference again, last one I promise.
