On Tuesday, the American Institute for Stuttering held its 19th Annual Gala with the theme “Just Listen,” encouraging people to listen and learn from people who stutter.
“Stranger Things: The First Shadow” opened on April 22 after an incredibly popular run on the West End. The “Stranger Things” prequel was praised during its performances in London, winning two Olivier Awards in 2024, one for Best Entertainment or Comedy Play. Since coming to the Big Apple, the play has only garnered more critical acclaim, winning three Tony Awards last Sunday.
On May 8, this year’s Tony nominees attended the 78th Annual Tony Awards’ “Meet the Nominees” event. Nominees in attendance included Academy Award-winning George Clooney and comedian Cole Escola — both nominated for Best Actor in a Play, as well as Tony-winning Megan Hilty for her role in “Death Becomes Her” and “Stranger Things” star Sadie Sink for her performance in “John Proctor is the Villain.”
On April 28, the cast and creative team of Apple TV+’s new sci-fi comedic thriller Murderbot celebrated the show’s world premire in New York City. Attendees included Emmy-winning Alexander Skarsgård, who plays the series’ titular character, and the show’s Academy Award-nominated directors, brothers Chris and Paul Weitz.

The event honored Clive Gillinson, the Executive and Artistic Director of Carnegie Hall, who was also in attendance. The reception was a preamble to YCA’s 64th Annual Gala on April 17 at Jazz at Lincoln Center.
