‘Reify’ looks to add an entirely new dimension to the music listening experience.
Almost all of us listen to music on a daily basis. It has become just another part of the daily grind. A new company comprised of engineers and designers, Reify, seeks to take this daily activity and add a whole new, more immersive dimension to it. The team behind Reify includes advisors from Google X, the MIT Media Lab, eBay, and WeAreFree. It is also a product of the first museum-led incubator, New Museum’s NEW INC.
Reify is a platform for making totems encoded with music and visuals that you can play on your mobile device. When the camera of a mobile device is pointed at a totem, their free Stylus app launches and transforms sound into something you can not only hear, but also see and hold. These totems that are at the crux of the listening experience will be on view and available at the Gift Shop at Red Bull Studios. The Kickstarter campaign, which launched July 14th, features exclusive rewards from “Health”, “Yacht”, “Tim Fain”, and “Mae”.
