Afffair mesmerized guests at Spring Studios with its latest Spring/Summer 2020 collection.
Inspired by the Khari Bulbul, rare orchid native to Azerbaijan, designer Rufat Ismayil crafted an exquisite array of seductive silhouettes and floral-hued ensembles. The runway show began with a warm mint fishnet mesh woven dress featuring large beaded orchids crowned with an organza trim. The long-sleeve mini was styled with a matching floral headpiece and complementary dewy eyeshadow.
The green tone continued with a stunning full-length column gown layered in tiers of crêpe chiffon and adorned with a floral sleeveless whimsy. Like the multicolored Khari Bulbul, the collection color palette shifted along the springtime spectrum introducing pinks, oranges, and plums.
A delicate lavender ice slip dress featuring an allover beaded orchid pattern was an eye-catching gown; an exposed part of the bosom, revealing a sequin bodice lily hinted towards a lingerie secret rendezvous, the dress an evocative wink towards, dare we say, an affair.
The party-ready off-white floral trimmed frock sashayed down the runway with matching sheer tulle gloves adorned with crystal embroidery. Fringes, feathers, and mesh were all used in a sophisticated manner, adding a glimmer of wow to every dress, full-length gowns and minis alike.
A crowd-pleasing purple backless fringe gown, topped with a crystal scalp headpiece, moved down the runway with festive fun. Front row guests like CJ Perry, Jennifer Aydin, Miss USA Chelsie Kryst, and Francesca Curan adding to the glamour of the evening, no doubt coveting the runway looks.
The theme of Khari Bulbul– whether as a laser-cut embellishment or crystal design–brought the collection to life, proving Creative Director Ismayil’s own rare talent and masterful eye for detail. The Spring/Summer 2020 collection might just be his best yet.
