Exclusive: Robert from Fi Collection Talks Business & Design

Fi Collection is a premium licensed football lifestyle collection that is inspired by our passion for the game of football and product innovation.

Expressed through the premium craftsmanship in our headwear collection and apparel products, Fi is truly football Inspired and design driven.

Fi is a collection that integrates nearly 50 years of premium headwear craftsmanship, design talent and international expertise in developing and distributing premium football products in multiple continents. We are bringing the global audience a collection that encapsulates the lifestyle aspect of the game.

What inspired you to create this company?

Robert: As we traveled internationally while doing big Soccer events like the FIFA world cup, we realized that no matter what market and what continent, the Soccer category was completely underdeveloped as far as headwear, we found the need and we felt that we needed to address it and bring it into and up to today’s standards by using our decades of experience in the headwear industry and bringing a unique yet innovative collection to the market.

Who are important mentors in your career?

Robert: Basically, I can tell you that whoever finds and creates an opportunity based on what they see in the marketplace that others have missed and that were able to execute it and not only execute it but to be successful with it in the long-term trough perseverance.  It’s a very general perspective but it’s the type of people that really inspire me throughout my career.

Tell us about the collection?

Robert: This collection is about bringing the soccer headwear category to where the market is today, not only within the sport and the fan but bridging that gap and presenting a product line that not only can be directed to the fans of each club but can also be cool and fashionable for a general audience and this collection is really about tackling both and this is what this collection is really about by showing a broad selection of clubs that have a mass appeal and huge followings and at the same time creating a line that is trendy with today’s market.

The Knonkurnal: What’s your

What is your design process like? 

Robert: Our design process is driven by the inspiration of the game, and how do we translate the game into a more street and urban perspective, so we capture the fan base, understand what the fan base is looking for, what is the traditional local fan base attracted to when it comes to their club, and then translate that into head-wear, and combine that with a use a fashion and street trends and basically translate that into a street like, everyday collection, that involves decoration, style, colors, fits, based on markets not only in North America but across the world.

What’s next for the brand?

Robert: We are always looking at new opportunities, obviously currently our focus is 100% driven by Soccer and have no plan to deviate from that in the near future, We still believe there is a lot of work to do, there is a lot of development to do, And it is a massive segment that is only growing in popularity in places like North America and will eventually start taking the lead on our business today. As far as what is next for the brand we look at opportunities with different product lines, product additions, but again, Headwear is our main focus, as well as soccer in sport, is our main fuel for the direction of the collection. Stay tuned, In the near future there might be some product additions, but currently, we are really taking a stand on capturing the headwear category and doing it properly.

Anything else you want to share? 

Robert: We are very excited about the collection in this early stage, within a short period of time we were able to penetrate not only in the North American Markets but also in various international markets and bringing a new category into the sport and the sport into a new category. We see the potential, we believe in it, we live it, we breathe it every day and we have put resources in place to ensure that this category will be front and center on a wider international market very shortly.
