Fashion designer Carlos Campos and visual artist Ricardo Cavolo’s teamed up for an exclusive collaboration marking Jose Cuervo’s 222nd anniversary at the KOLA House in the Meatpacking district in Manhattan last night. The event begins the launch of the new and limited edition Jose Cuervo Especial 222 bottles.

Carlos Cavolo, a Mexican born artist from Barcelona has created the vibrant and colorful new imagines for the collection which highlight key moments in Cuervo’s history. They include a symbolic heart, lady, devil and music, one on each of the four limited edition bottles. Honduras born fashion designer, Carlos Campos incorporates Cavolo’s work into his clothing line which include a sweatshirt, T-shirt and tote bag. The merchandise will not be sold in stores but gifted by the brand, Campos and Cavolo through an online sweepstakes. In it’s entirety, it is called the Cuervo x Campos x Cavolo collection.

The heart symbol tells the history of the beginning of the brand in 1758 where Jose Antonio de Cuervo obtained some land in the town of Tequila to harvest the blue agave plant, making Cuervo not only the founder but the heart of the entire industry. The lady speaks to Ana Gonzalez-Rubio, who was the first woman run the company during the rocky years post Mexico’s revolution. The music references The Rolling Stones’ “Tequila Sunrise” tour in 1972. Lastly, the devil plays “the devil’s water” that Americans dared to drink during prohibition when Jose Cuervo tequila first made its way into the U.S. in 1873.

Guests were able to sip on speciality cocktails that represented its history as well and danced to the beats of The Extortionists Ibe Soliman and Public School’s Dao-Yi Chow. The Jose Cuervo Margarita represented the heart and was made of Jose Cuervo Gold, fresh lime, agave syrup and lime garnish. The lady called the Paloma consisted of Jose Cuervo Especial Silver, sparkling grapefruit soda and lime garnish. Music or the Tequila Sunrise was made from Jose Cuervo Especial Silver, grenadine, orange juice, orange wedge and cherry garnish. The devil or El Diablo ingredients included Jose Cuervo Especial Silver, ginger beer, jalapeno- infused simple syrup and jalapeno slice garnish.
