Music enthusiasts were taken on a soulful voyage hosted by Grammy Park.

The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences always hosts events that pull out all the stops and bring together the industry’s top talent for musical magic. This includes the biggest night in music: The Grammy Awards. Thursday night was no exception as the Kings Theatre in collaboration with “Grammy Park” lent its stage to the vocal stylings of Jazmine Sullivan and Ne-Yo.

Jazmine Sullivan has a voice that can only be described as liquid gold. With a silky raspy texture, the songstress is an undeniable talent to experience live. The room was ignited as she effortlessly sashayed across the stage conveying life’s greatest pleasures and hardships with every note. Accounts of the demolishment and rebirth of Sullivan were shared during the breaks in her set as she reminisced on ailing past relationships followed by a gut-wrenchingly stellar rendition of “Forever Don’t Last.”

On tracks he pens for others and his own collection of time-honored hits, Ne-Yo just gets it. Performing the love soundtrack for our lives over the last decade, the crooner set fire to the stage in every way possible. The emotional roller coaster left the crowd weeping the lyrics to “So Sick,” rejoicing the fervor of “Give Me Everything” and even getting a little sensual swaying to the sultry billow of “Sexy Love.” Witnessing Ne-Yo perform is such a treat. Illustrating the dynamics of his triple threat savvy, his execution of songs like “Story Time” filled the room with laughter as the crowd roared their opinions to the songs ideations.

Contributing to the seemingly endless array of timeless sounds were dual powerful performances by both talents, paying tribute to the majestic icon, Prince. With respect to the signature aura of the late legend, Ne-Yo donned a purple suit to close out the second half of his set and the evening.

The fans were the real winners at the conclusion of the show. Music lovers came hungry and left with sore feet, emotionally exhausted and hoarse from thunderous yells, which to put simply means they left happy!

Over the course of four days and several live concert performances Grammy winners are converging in Brooklyn, New York for GRAMMY Park, the first GRAMMY-branded, multi-day live music experience held May 5-8. For more information visit here.
