Inspired by urban architecture and scaffolding, the collection pays homage the contemporary woman. Hair was done by CATWALK by TIGI, led by Thomas Osborn. #BEHINDTHECATWALK
Thomas Osborn, Tigi U.S Creative Director & VP of Education talked us through the looks that were curated for Jonathan Simkhai’s Spring/Summer 2016 Runway show.
“The look that was done for Jonathan Simkhai’s Spring/Summer 2016 runway show was inspired by the softer side of urban architecture. It’s a take on classic americana where it’s still feminine and soft but with structure to it, and softness. When you look at the shape, you see this loose hair that is pulled back into a little knot that sits at the nape area. It’s basically two crossover knots that were interwined like one would do for a shoe lace. Combining it with the hair that is at the nape area doing the same thing and as they pull it through, they leave little bits here and there. No pins at all, just an elastic that pulled the hair through.”
For the Catwalk by Tigi team, it was all about creating a look that was fun, casual and effortless. It almost looked as if the girls had done it themselves. The hair featured a little bit of looseness and softness with aid from a bodifying spray just to give a loose volume in the hair without being overly polished or really shiny. The natural shine the hairstyles featured was enough to create enough movement as the models walk down the runway.
GET THE LOOK:
- Prep hair with CATWALK by TIGI Bodifying Spray ($16.99), to achieve volume and texture. Using round brush, blow dry the front section of hair smooth, leaving natural movement in the ends and hair at the back.
- Next, gather hair loosely behind the shoulder, keeping tension light around the ears, and tie in a loose knot at the nape. Split “pop” into two again, and tie another knot, using a black elastic to secure.
- Once the knot is secured, separate with fingers while sing pins to secure pieces pf hair where desired.
