After winning Best Director for Birdman, AlejandroΒ GonzΓ‘lez IΓ±Γ‘rritu looks to follow that with what seems to be a high tension thriller starring two of the biggest names working today.
If you haven’t seen Birdman yet, I recommend you stop reading and get on it right away–just so you can see how immensely talented AlejandroΒ GonzΓ‘lez IΓ±Γ‘rritu really is.Β Birdman was easily the best film of 2014 and one of the best films over the last five years. How doesΒ IΓ±Γ‘rritu plan on following that up? Only by working with Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy on a western thriller that takes place in the wilderness. The first teaser forΒ The Revenant looks absolutely incredible…sure, there’s not a whole lot going on but there’s a lot to be excited about all around.

Deep in the uncharted American wilderness, hunter Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio) is severely injured and left for dead by a traitorous member of his team, John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy). With sheer will as his only weapon, Glass must navigate a hostile environment, a brutal winter, and warring Native American tribes in relentless quest to survive and exact vengeance on Fitzgerald.
The RevenantΒ is directed by AlejandroΒ GonzΓ‘lez IΓ±Γ‘rritu, written byΒ IΓ±Γ‘rritu and Mark L. Smith, and stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy, Domhnall Gleeson, Will Poulter, and Lukas Haas.Β The Revenant will have a limited release on December 25, 2015 and a wide release on January 8, 2016.
