Meek Mill visited Revolt Studios to showcase his new album, “Dreams Worth More Than Money,” which was released June 29.

Meek explained the concept behind his album title, “Me living in my dreams is way more important than having money. Having people here for you, showing support, that’s way more important.”

The album cover is a picture of a stack of money on one side and his father’s obituary on the other. Growing up in a poverty-stricken area in Philadelphia and with the death of his father in 92’ he had to rise above the struggle to become the rock of his family. His father still impacts his everyday life, “It influences everything I do, it made me want to hustle harder. No other men in my family are really here to help my mom and my sister and so I had to step up and take it to the next level. I try to overcome everything and take it to the next level, I use it as my motivation, I don’t just sit around and cry about it.”

After doing time for five months, he was able to use that slight setback as motivation for a major comeback. It allowed him time to grow and see things from a different perspective. By having time to “think, come back and reevaluate the situation”, he was able to return stronger which was detrimental to his new album. He stated, “I want to be a leader in Hip Hop, but I mainly want to inspire people.” Then explaining further, “I want to show people the other side because, you know, most of the time you don’t see what goes on when people graduate from having nothing to having something.” When he started to perform songs, he called people from the audience to stand with him on stage and wear one of his chains, which got the fans pumped and also gave them a glimpse of the rapper’s lifestyle.

Meek Mill performed, “Checks” and “Thrillest” off of the new album as well as his classic hits from his popular mixtapes DreamChasers 2 & 3. He ended his performance with his most famed song “Dreams and Nightmares” which left the crowd completely hyped.

Dreams Worth More Than Money consists of 14 tracks and is now available for purchase on iTunes and other retailers.
