Rosanna Scotto, the veteran journalist and co-host of the popular show Good Day New York airing on Fox 5 NY in New York City, is a true multitasker. When she’s not anchoring the live daily morning newscast, she’s busy overseeing Fresco by Scotto, her family’s beloved Italian restaurant located in Midtown Manhattan. Owned and operated by Scotto along with her children Jenna and LJ Ruggiero, the multi-generational business has debuted a new brunch menu, bringing a bold refresh to the eatery that has long been known for being the go-to destination for power lunches, delicious food and incredible service.
Located at 34 East 52nd Street, Fresco by Scotto has been a New York institution since its opening in 1993. And now there’s another reason to visit due to their exciting brunch menu that seamlessly delivers brunch favorites with an Italian twist. The menu is appropriately called “La Dolce Brunch” and it includes tiramisu pancakes with mascarpone and cocoa, cacio e pepe scramble with crispy prosciutto, truffle egg toast with shaved truffle, a Mediterranean chopped salad and more. The decadent items are outstanding and will leave diners full and satisfied.
The Knockturnal tasted the new dishes and they did not disappoint. A highlight was the tasty tiramisu pancakes. We were worried that it would be too sweet, but the stack of flapjacks with the mascarpone and cocoa were perfectly balanced even with a drizzle of a coffee-chocolate type syrup. It was also served with strawberries on top and a dusting of cocoa powder. Brunch is the meal where all the rules go out the window, so order this indulgent dish to make your weekend even more special and sweet.
For savory bites, set your sights on the pizza bianca topped with wild mushrooms and a sunny-side egg. This sauceless white pizza was a standout. The complementary flavors, rich texture, and the sophisticated profile of a runny yolk and earthy mushrooms combined made this a luxurious and memorable dish. We also recommend ordering the truffle egg toast. The soft scrambled eggs in this dish were extremely light and airy and the brioche was perfectly soft and slightly sweet. Of course, the centerpiece of the dish is the musky, pungent and savory aroma of the truffles, which gave the simple combination of egg and toast a uniquely luxurious flavor.
Not only is the food at Fresco by Scotto superb, but they also offer exceptional hospitality. The servers were incredibly friendly and attentive. They anticipated guest needs and had a positive, professional attitude—creating a welcoming atmosphere and enjoyable dining experience for guests.
