Steps away from the Herald Square subway station, Sweet Graffiti is serving up a rainbow of desserts from cuisines across the globe. Adjacent to the Martinique New York on Broadway, Pastry Chef Romina Peixotoβs shop has something for everyone.
Peixoto brings her experience from Le Cirque and The Chocolate Room to Sweet Graffiti, where sheβs the masterpiece behind a variety of bold chocolates, pastries, and frozen desserts, each of which looking just as good as it tastes. In an interview with The Knockturnal, Peixoto said her shop is known for their Pad Thai cookies, which she called her βbaby.β
I think it highlights the store a lot,β Peixoto said. βItβs very special because it has the components of the dish, but is more on the sweet side.β
The Pad Thai cookieβs base is a sweet peanut butter cookie, filled with spicy chili and lime peanut butter, and topped with coconut flakes. The dessert finds its balance between the heat and sweetness, cutting through the intense chili with the sugary peanut butter base. Itβs perfect for fans of the savory dish, as well as adventurous eaters with a sweet tooth.
Also on Peixotoβs menu are alfajores, traditional Argentinian cookie sandwiches filled with creamy dulce de leche. The cookies are light and soft, complementing the silkiness of the caramel filling.Β
It has to be part of the store,β Peixoto said about her alfajores. βI think it represents meβ¦ Itβs part of my culture, and I love it so much.β
A highlight of Sweet Graffiti is Rominaβs Bonbons, which draw from Peixotoβs passion for chocolate-making and bringing diverse global flavors to the shop. The bonbons are on a rotating menu, allowing guests to try a variety of flavors from classic Sea Salt Caramel to the creative Strawberry-Lychee Prosecco. The bonbons are rich and decadent, providing a burst of flavor in just a few bites.
Sweet Graffiti is also known for its βSweetβ and βGraffitiβ Bars, which are decked out in paint splatter-patterned chocolate in vibrant colors. Try the Candied Bacon or the viral Dubai, which combines pistachio, tahini, white chocolate, and kataifi shredded dough.
Whether youβre a fan of classic treats or looking for an exciting new dessert to try, Peixotoβs Sweet Graffiti is sure to satisfy your cravings. While the shopβs more colorful offerings like its Pad Thai cookie are sure to turn heads, donβt overlook classics like the Raspberry Jelly donut or Baileyβs Chocolate Cream cupcake.
Itβs a fun little sweet shop with a variety for everyoneβs sweet tooth,β Peixoto said.
