This week’s episode of Power Book III: Raising Kanan was absolutely great.
We finally got the answer everyone’s been waiting for: it was Snaps and Pop who gave the order to have Famous killed. That bombshell is going to shake everything up. These two are quickly becoming the biggest threats in the series, and when that truth gets back to Kanan, it’s going to be a whole new war.
Marvin and Lou both showed out in this episode. Marvin’s body count just went up, and the show didn’t waste time in revealing he killed Quan. The way that whole scene was shot felt like something straight out of a horror movie, dark, gritty, and unsettling. It really sold the weight of Marvin’s decision and how far gone he is.
Lou reminded everyone exactly who he is. He came through big for B’Rilla and proved he’s still the man who gets things done when it matters. If anyone forgot, he gave us all a sharp reminder this week, and B’Rilla definitely owes him now.
As for Unique, the man is spiraling. Ocee might have been a snake, but the way Unique handled him was wild. That entire scene was intense, and even the dudes in the room looked stunned. Unique’s unpredictable nature is starting to feel like a liability. He’s only got so many more explosive moments left before someone close to him decides they’ve had enough and makes their move.
With the reveal that Snaps and Pop are behind Famous’s murder, the question now becomes when and how Kanan will find out. There’s a lot of potential for Raq to get involved here. If she learns the truth, handles Snaps and Pop herself, and then reveals it to Kanan, that could be a major turning point for their relationship. It might even earn her a way back into his trust. And make no mistake, at some point, Kanan is going to have to confront those two. That’s the kind of moment that could solidify his name in the streets, the moment where he really becomes feared.
Raq’s side moves are also raising eyebrows. That scene where she bribed the cops definitely wasn’t a throwaway moment. There’s something bigger in play there, and we’re just starting to see the edges of it. Hopefully, the next episode gives us more on that front.
Marvin’s future isn’t looking great. The writers are teasing his downfall more and more each week. His only out might be to give up Early to Stefano, but that’s a risky move. Could save him. Could get him killed. Either way, it’s going to blow back.
Overall, the episode is very solid. Even if Unique’s survival last season was questionable, he’s proving to be an essential part of the drama now. His actions are wild, his presence is unpredictable, and his impact is real. And it was great finally seeing Lou in action again instead of just being in the studio or caught up in relationships. This episode brought the heat, and if the momentum keeps up, the rest of the season’s about to go off.
