MGM+ took a history lesson on New York City and made it into a wildly wonderful premiere of ‘The Westies.’

At the SVA Theatre the starry sightings were sizzling as live music played in the venue to welcome the likes of co-creator, showrunner, executive producer and writer Chris Brancato, co-creator, executive producer and writer Michael Panes, consulting producer Swizz Beatz and cast members J.K. Simmons, Titus Welliver, Tom Brittney, Jessica Frances Dukes, Hamish Allan-Headley, Vincent Walsh, Hilary McCormack, alongside executive Michael Wright, head of MGM+, as well as additional guests including Walton Goggins, A Boogie Wit da Hoodie, Ilfenesh Hadera, Dolores Catania, Alfred Molina and more.

Attendees were thrilled with the July 8 screening of the much talked about series that is a gritty and kinetic crime drama centering on New York City’s infamously violent Irish gang of the same name. The energy of the night was full of buzzing excitement with a bit of good old-fashioned Big Apple sweet edginess.
After the premiere screening, guests applauded the project that makes the stars shine and whirls with incredible production value. The excitement was felt in high measurements as the night continued with a fun night at the after party. The soiree was a lively cocktail reception at The Globe Bar, where the series was celebrated with delicious bites, Guinness and Irish-themed cocktails, accompanied by a live Irish folk band to set the atmosphere.

Set in the early 1980s when the construction of the Jacob Javits Convention Center on the Westies’ home turf in Hell’s Kitchen promises a financial windfall. Despite being outnumbered fifty-to-one by the Five Families of the Italian Mafia, the Westies’ legendary brutality and cunning have given them the leverage necessary to share the spoils through a fragile détente.
