Stubbing your toe sucks. It sucks a little less when you can use a piece of art to heal it.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art and BAND-AIDยฎ Brand unveil their first of its kind collaboration, featuring famous pieces of art printed on BAND-AIDยฎ brand products.ย
The Event
Held in Chelsea, New York, the location kept inline with the artistic nature of the collab. The event space was covered with the collection’s pieces, and visuals of the art inspiration were purposefully displayed across the space, as if one was truly walking into a classic art gallery. Guest were immersed in the beauty of the collection from all direction, which was complemented by a band playing live music.

About The Collection
The collection highlights art from visual artists Katsushika Hokusai and William Morris. The full collection consists of two first aid bags which display Morris’s Brother Rabbit, and the other using Hokusai’s The Great Wave. The Great Wave is also featured on a metal bandage tin and Flexible Fabric Adhesive Bandages from the collection. In addition, Hokusai pieces The Lake at Hakone in Sagami Province and Yellow Chrysanthemums on a Blue Ground are also featured on the bandages.
Additional Details
What’s more, guests could try their hand at art making through a custom screen printing station. They had the option of creating a tote with either The Great Wave or Brother Rabbit on it. This tied together a very full-circle moment for the event, bring art to live and vise versa.ย
Later in the evening, Palermo thanked all her guests for coming out to the unveiling, then revealed a hidden room that displayed larger-than-life motion projections of The Great Wave. Guests were then encouraged to walk around the room, take photos, and enjoy their evening surrounded by the installation.
To top everything off, all the cocktails offered were named after the works of art from the collection.
