New York Fashion Week is always a vivacious display of variety, a collection of vibes that always seem to blend together seamlessly. The same can be said about the artistry of up-and-coming singer/songwriter Absolutely, whose songs are curated with a touch of adventure and futurism infused into stunning R&B-inflected pop.
โI donโt just view these as songs,โ she says. โI want what Iโm creating to be seen as art. The lyrics arenโt so straightforward all of the time. Itโs meant to make you think. When you look at a piece of art, itโs up for interpretation. My brain, feelings, and emotions are literally in the tracks, so I hope you feel it.โ
Absolutely recently released her debut album Cerebrum, which was executive produced by Dave Hamelin. But this was not her first time creating hits, ย as the artist had previously co-written a wide variety of songs, including โFairโ for Normani, โGet Togetherโ for David Guetta,” and โFaking Loveโ [feat. Saweetie], “Gimme Your Numberโ [with Ty Dolla $ign], and โMaria Eleganteโ [feat. Afro B] for Anittaโs multiplatinum chart-topping global blockbuster Versions of Meย in addition to โSueltateโ fromย Sing 2.
During Fashion Week, Absolutely joined Groovevolt’s Play Series at SoHo House in Manhattan to perform songs from Cerebrumย as well as some of her renowned singles. The Singer dazzled the crowd with herย debut single, “Higher,” which encapsulates an otherworldly aesthetic. It’s a glimpse into the future of pop music, where boundaries are blurred, and creativity knows no limits.
