Maria Menounos is partnering with Bounty and Best Friends Animal Society to encourage everyone to adopt a pet and help animals find loving homes throughout the month of November.
For former actress, television host and author, Maria Menounos, animals are everything! In fact, she is best known for her animal activism and even rescued six dogs at once in 2012. Menounos is a self-proclaimed “dog mom” to her two rescue pups, Max and Bobo. It seems only fitting that she decided to partner with Bounty and Best Friends Animal Society to help rescue animals find loving homes, as well as encourage people to adopt the animals who have been in shelters for the longest amount of time.
Although Bounty paper towels are more than capable of cleaning up after messy pets, the brand is doing so much more for this cause. As an added bonus, Bounty is picking up the adoption fees for all pets adopted at Best Friends Animal Society locations nationwide, throughout the month of November.
I asked Menounos why it is so important for these specific pets to get adopted, amidst the current challenges many no-kill shelters like Best Friends Animal Society are facing, as the amount of animals in need of homes has become dangerously overwhelming.
“I think everybody always wants the animals that have been there the longest to get a home first,” Menounos said.
“They’re in there, they’ve been in there, you know, it’s not ideal. And the longer they’re in there, the sadder they get and probably the unhealthier, in a sense too…emotionally,” Menounos said.
Menounos also spoke about the importance of assessing one’s lifestyle before choosing to adopt an animal, especially since many of the pets at the shelter need plenty of love and attention.
“One thing people don’t realize is you really have to look at who you are, what your hobbies are, what you love to do, what you don’t love to do, to figure out what your ideal pet match is,” Menounos said.
If you are looking to adopt a new furry friend and support this cause, Best Friends Animal Society has locations in cities like Los Angeles and New York City. They also have a large network of national partners where you can also show your support.
