The Knockturnal joined brand ambassadors at Las’ Lap in Lower East Side for a lesson on mixology. Get the three recipes and start mixing your own special New Old Fashioned cocktails in time for the holidays.

Impress the family and friends with your own rum-based New Old Fashioned cocktail just in time for the holidays (and catching the end of Old Fashioned month!). The new interpretation comes three ways, and we were on site at the Michael B. Jordan-owned Las’ Lap to learn first-hand how to mix it up. Each of these rums have very unique characteristics on their own, so be sure to sample them solo.

Fanny Chu, BACARDÍ Rum Aficionado, began the mixology session by teaching guests how to make her version of the BACARDÍ Reserva Ocho Old Fashioned, which she made with BACARDÍ Reserva Ocho, Tiki bitters and banana liqueur. Based-off of the original recipe from the family reserve created in 1862, BACARDÍ Reserva Ocho is barrel-aged for a minimum of eight years with a rich, velvety body.

Preparation: Add all ingredients into a rocks glass. Fill with ice. Stir until well mixed and very cold. Garnish with an orange peel twist.

Marlo Gamora, SANTA TERESA Brand Ambassador led us in creating the SANTA TERESA 1796 Coffee Old Fashioned, mixed with SANTA TERESA 1796, Demerara syrup and coffee bitters. SANTA TERESA is a bold and elegant Venezuelan single estate rum with blends aged up to 35 years in bourbon oak barrels. This was a crowd favorite with its coffee bitter that paired uniquely well with rum.
