Cure your post-Halloweekend blues with some of our favorite releases from the past week.

MORGIN MADISON – RUNNING FT. FLUIR [MAU5TRAP]

Morgin Madison, one of our favorite rising talents from the mau5trap roster, has done it again with his brand new single, “Running.” Paying homage to the beloved nostalgia elicited in his debut LP, Living The Phantasm,  his new tune is a fulfilled promise from the producer. Not straying away from his 2010-era progressive house sound, Madison creates an ephemeral single to expand upon his uniquely textural debut body of work. Arpeggiated piano-like synths and a driving kick best characterize “Running,” as Australian songstress and multi-instrumentalist Fluir adds gorgeous vocal overtones to its club-drenched aesthetic.

KANTOR – TECHNODISCO

Multifaceted artist Kantor blends his signature cyberpunk sound with classic house in his latest single, “Technodisco.” The fun, glitchy techno record sees him merge his dystopian electro sound with edgy, modern house beats that have surfaced from the genre’s transition to mainstream electronic music this year. Steering well away from any form of unoriginality or redundancy, Kantor has eclectically blended his world with a balanced assortment of house music samples. No matter the direction Kantor takes, every work is well-rendered, crafted, and carefully-calculated before release to ensure a uniform experience is squared away and an enriching impression isn’t left out.

DEMUR – KEEP ME SAFE

Halloween may be over, but we have approximately 4 more days to bask in its spooky afterglow. “Keep Me Safe,” the recently released single from DEMUR, is the perfect antidote to your post-Halloweekend blues. His bass-drenched sophomore single elevates his distorted sound to new heights with a cinematic backdrop and melodic elements. The single  follows up “Be With Me,” the first single teasing his upcoming album. “Keep Me Safe” will be the last single before the rising producer’s promising debut album, the date of which has not yet been announced.

RÜ – BLUE / GREEN EP [SUPER LEGIT RECORDS]

Chicago-based up-and-comer rü makes an emphatic return delivering a masterful six-track EP. Following his mid-year release Happy AF / Homeless, the emerging producer shows his production capabilities on his latest body of work, Blue/ Green. Opening the EP, ‘A Song With Bleeps, And Bloops’ sets the tone for what is to come, the fast-paced track does not let up for its 3 minute run time, the increasing intensity allows for an enticing opening track. Following in a similar fashion, ‘Pale Blue Dot’ is another profound offering, filled with driving synths and an energetic pulsating beat creating futuristic energy.  Up next is ‘Over It’, offering a different listening experience, ‘Over It’ is formed of discussions about annoying problems prior to COVID. Living up to its name, ‘Catchy Song’ is up next with a propulsive, addictive beat at the core of the track. A repetitive vocal cut by Tom Segura alongside striking siren synths take center stage, building slowly to reveal a hair-raising drop, the track is an explosive necessity to the EP. Reducing the intensity, nevertheless maintaining a fast beat we are introduced to an ambient ‘Chill Song’. Perfectly rounding out the EP ‘Reconsider’ (the remix of a remix) kicks off with a mellow build of digital warble before introducing an atmospheric sound display.

DAVIDE SQUILLACE X NOLAN – COSMO / THOSE LATE NIGHTS

Established talents Davide Squillace and NOLAN have individually made a name for themselves in the house and techno space over the years with each subsequent release. Joining forces once more, the powerhouses reveal their first collaborative EP, ‘Cosmos’.  The EP directly follows their September single ‘Drive Good,’ which landed on Crosstown Rebels’ sister label, Rebellion, and marked their first track together. The two-track EP kicks off with the titular track ‘Cosmos’. The offering builds with a hypnotizing rhythm, setting up pulsating dance energy. The track is rife with layered synths and sonic textures, creating an adventitious sound throughout its six-minute-long run time. Directly following, ‘Those Late Nights’ takes over, transporting listeners into a sensational and compelling soundscape. The cut closes off the two-tracker, taking listeners further in to the world of Davide Squillace & NOLAN. Together, the EP serves as a taste of their irresistible sound design.
