Master Chocolatier Maribel Lieberman celebrated her debut on the cover of Resident Magazine’s latest issue in her iconic Soho flagship store.
The event marked the 20th anniversary of Maribelle, her first chocolate store in the heart of Manhattan. To celebrate Maribel held a socialite studded soiree, with the guest list including Nicole Miller, Gabriela Gill, Christopher Pape, Lauren Day Roberts, Ruth Miller, Adele Nino, Mariel Crystal, and Hayley Henning.
Hailing from Honduras, Maribel fell in love with the sweet side of life early, when she started selling chocolate to her neighbors at just 8 years old. However coming from a family of seamstresses, she pursued fashion at Parsons School of Design in New York aged 17. Feeling disenchanted and wanting more, she began to explore culinary delights, which lead to her first collaborative store ‘Lunettes et Chocolat’. The store was a collaboration between her chocolates and a friend’s eyeglass line. The success of the alliance led her to open Maribelle, in 2001 and has since been the staple of her brand. Maribelle has since branched out opening her second Manhattan-based store in Japanese-owed Kitano Hotel.
Making Oprah’s list of favorite things is no easy feat but Maribel achieved the honor with your thick and creamy hot chocolate, nestled in the back of the Cacao Bar. Her handcrafted chocolates, tantalizing candies and signature ganaches have delighted people young and old for years and have become apart of Soho’s heart.
Maribelle is located at 484 Broome Street, and you can see her tasty delights at www.mariebelle.com,
