Last November, Broadway would never be the same when the all-new Alanis Morissette hit musical debuted, showcasing themes of social justice and providing messages that so many needed to hear.

Since the 2020 Broadway shutdown, attendees have not been able to see performances that they all adore, thus causing hard times for both viewers and performers alike. Among the brilliant cast of Jagged Little Pill, Celia Rose Gooding made her Broadway debut as Frankie. She is the daughter of Mary Jane Healy, a mother obsessed with image while in turn hiding her own deep-rooted secrets underneath the image of the perfect family that she so desperately wants to have. Frankie is bold, intelligent, and like so many young girls, desperate to find her place in the world. Being the only black member of her family, she struggles, trying to find her own identity in the world she lives in while exploring her own sexuality and a passion for social justice. Celia takes on this role with grace and passion and her performance is nothing short of raw and show-stopping. To be nominated for a Tony Award on your Broadway debut is an example of someone who absolutely shines in their role, and that is exactly what she does.

We sat down with Celia to talk all about her nomination and performance as Frankie! Check it out above!
