Pop-singer, Laura Pieri has released the new single, “What You Gonna Do,” a feel-good song that’s about love and the feeling of falling in love.
The single was produced by Chaz Mishan and co-written by mega-Producer, Cory Rooney who discovered Jennifer Lopez and has produced for artists like Beyonce, Mariah Carey and Marc Anthony. Rooney was introduced to Pieri through Tommy Mottola and states, “Every 20 or so years, a new artist comes along that is comparable to one of the greats of our time. Laura checks all the boxes. I am excited to see where this journey takes her.”
The Knockturnal: Tell us about your new song / video:
Laura Pieri: Well the song is about falling in love. It’s about the butterflies around the uncertainty of it all! The video we wanted to go a little bit more extreme. It’s kind of the song’s premise but at an absurd level. It’s a story about obsession.
The Knockturnal: How did you get your start in music?
Laura Pieri: I didn’t really get a “start” in music. It’s just something that’s been present in my life for as long as I can remember.
The Knockturnal: Who are some singers you look up to / are inspired by?
Laura Pieri: Oh wow so many. It depends on when! Currently I’m really inspired by Sza. I really love her energy and just how she presents herself. She’s truly a fairy in my eyes.
The Knockturnal: How did you first connect with Tommy Mottola?
Laura Pieri: We had a friend in common who introduced us.
The Knockturnal: How was working with Chaz Mishan and Cory Rooney?
Laura Pieri: Incredible. It was truly incredible. Chaz is very very talented and it’s a privilege to work with him. Cory is amazing. He’s out of this world talented and just a legend. To be around him and learn from him is an experience I don’t think I’ll ever forget.
The Knockurnal: Who would you like to work with in the future ? Producers? Singers?
Laura Pieri: So many! For years I’ve always wanted to work with Zedd.
The Knockturnal: How would you describe your style?
Laura Pieri: I’d say it’s pop, for sure, but with some flavor!
The Knockturnal: Other than singing, what do you like to do for fun?
Laura Pieri: Sketching, drawing, and a whole lot of sleeping.
The Knockturnal: What else is coming up?
Laura Pieri: MUSIC! Plenty of new music is on the way.
