Upcoming film Alita Battle Angel, directed byΒ Robert Rodriguez and produced by James Cameron, has invited fans into its dystopian world for interactive family-friendly fun leading up to its February 14th release date. Β
The immersive experience brings the movie’s futuristic coming of age story to life, allowing visitors to play inside the world Alita created.
Set in the year 2563,Β Passport to Iron City is modeled off of theΒ AlitaΒ movie set, with details provided by the production designers. Players begin their journey in the Kansas bar, offering refreshments and even in-world Berserko beer crafted by Inglewood brewery Three Weavers.

Teams are formed by employee game leaders, and the competition commences in the main marketplace arena. The Factory, an ominous surveillance government organization, explains in a robotic tone how the game is to be played: teams race to vie for credits by completing challenges within 40 minutes, and all points will be totaled on the scoreboard. Teams scatter to each of the eight stations, ranging from memory tests to an updated Rockband-esque recording studio. The family-oriented tasks are fun for all-ages, invoking a sense of camaraderie among teammates– and of course, some friendly competition. Actors at each station lead the challenges, fully in-character with theirΒ AlitaΒ alter egos. The game concludes with teams betting on digital racers at the Motorball Stadium to boost their leaderboard credits.

The fast-paced Passport to Iron City no doubt incites excitement around theΒ AlitaΒ premiere, yet is still a fun adventure on its own. The experience, co-conceived by Jon M. Gibson of creative production company iam8bit, has a striking seamlessness to it. Players inherently become intertwined with the staffed characters, and their acting is what elevates the game, ultimately reminding players whatΒ AlitaΒ truly is about: humanity.
