On Tuesday, January 15th the cast of M. Night Shyamalan’s new thriller gathered at the SVA Theatre for the New York Premiere of “GLASS.”

Attending cast members included James McAvoy, Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, Sarah Paulson, Anya Taylor-Joy and Spencer Treat Clark.
Shyamalan prefaced the premiere with a few words of gratitude toward Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson. “It’s been amazing, kind of like a dream come true,” Shymalan said of his new thriller. “I’ve been kind of emotional recently because Bruce and Sam have kind of been like godfathers to me; they kind of took care of me in my career and gave me a career. You can have all the great ideas in the world but somebody has to support you and for Bruce and Sam, especially at the height of their stardom to kind of back a kid and say ‘hey we believe in you’, I owe them a ton.”
Producers Jason Blum and Ashwin Rajan also made up the exclusive audience as well as special guest Spike Lee.
Shyamalan also credited living on the east coast to his current relationship with Hollywood and the combination of his films Unbreakable and Split to creating GLASS. “I’ve always felt super super taken care of and supported and ‘GLASS’ is an example. Disney and Universal own the characters for the two separate movies and I said, ‘would it be alright if I made a small movie and use these characters?’ and they said yes, literally because they were being nice. There’s nothing else to it and I hope it all works out for everybody because they were so supportive of a filmmaker.”
A veteran of the film industry, Shyamalan has been making films since the age of 21. Combining two of his blockbuster films in the past two decades is just one of many innovative ideas he had for the film, crossing over the storylines from the two films to create a reprise of the haunting characters played by Samuel L. Jackson and James McAvoy. “There’s a lot of gratitude about this movie, and you’ll feel it in it because I was feeling nostalgic and thinking about family and being able to believe in yourself and have others support you,” he shared at the New York premiere.
Universal Pictures’ GLASS is now playing.
