On Friday, August 3, Tidal and HBO collaborated for an adulting carnival pop-up at Spring Studios in preparation for season 3 of the hit series, Insecure. The show is set to air on August 12 at 10:30 PM on HBO.
The event was fit with plenty of novelties, photo opportunities, and Instagram-worthy hot spots.
Closest to the DJ booth was a popcorn machine that read, poppin’ ain’t easy and a claw machine game with tiny stuffed bears wearing Insecure shirts and holding gift cards to Tidal, Starbucks, Apple, etc.
Next, there was a blowin’ up ain’t easy station where attendees could take pictures in front of festive balloons and a glow-up photo booth that turned four glamour shots into a boomerang. The backdrop resembled the cover photo of the acclaimed TV series, in which Issa and Molly are side by side in their favorite BFF stance.
Perhaps the most popular novelty was the karaoke center called rappin’ ain’t easy, where you could perform one of Issa’s infamous raps in a studio set up like the main character’s bathroom.
Lastly, for entertainment, there were several dance battles unfolding on the dance floor and a synchronized crowd rock once the headlining act, Tierra Whack, performed a few of her hit songs.
Overall, the adulting theme fit nicely with the flirty cocktails, reserved wines, and cool drinks. The entire layout sort of felt like a modernized time capsule and really got folks excited about Issa’s new shenanigans that have yet to be revealed.
